Advent/Christmas Concert

Sunday December 3, 2017

I want to invite you to a holiday concert in the historic St. Joseph Parish church on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. I'll be playing the 113 year old Henry Pilcher tracker pipe organ on solo works and with Laura and Jon -- featuring favorite carols of the season with flute and voice.  The lively acoustics and bold sound of the 1904 pipe organ combine to make a wonderful, uplifting sound.  Laura Ebie’s flute playing in St. Joseph’s beautiful sanctuary has been described as “sweet sounds floating down from heaven.”  Adding to that, talented baritone Jon Ridinger will lend his beautiful singing voice to the perennial favorites “Oh Holy Night” and “Of the Father's Love Begotten” and help lead the audience in carol singing.

Refreshments and fellowship following the program.

Come and welcome in the Holiday Season!

Program to include settings of:

  • God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen

  • Fanfare on Adeste Fideles (Oh Come All Ye Faithful) by Eric Thiman

  • Oh, Holy Night

  • The First Noel

  • Fantasia on Greensleeves (What Child is This) by Ralph Vaughan Williams

  • In Dulci Jubilo by Johann Sebastian Bach

  • Of the Father's Love Begotten

  • Oh Come Emmanuel (as set by The Piano Guys)

  • I Wander as I Wonder (Appalachian Carol)

Brian Ebie: Flute and Organ Concert Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. Historic St. Joseph Parish Randolph, Ohio

For the past year, I have been restoring the pipe organ at St. Joseph's Historic Church in Randolph, Ohio.  It hadn't played in years, so there was a lot of work to be done to bring it back in to playing condition and tuning. Though I have made huge strides, the work is ongoing. But to show off the work that has been done and give parishioners and community members a teaser on what they've been missing, we are playing a springtime concert highlighting the progress thus far. Church members have assisted me in various stages of the work, beginning with a work party to remove all of the pipes from the main chests of the organ for cleaning, dent removal, and minor voicing work for a handful of non-speaking pipes!

Brian Ebie and Laura Ebie Flute and Organ Recital at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kent, Ohio on March 22, 2015

Often, my wife and I like to make recordings on the pipe organs I maintain. Even though we have a home organ, you just can't duplicate the awesome ring andreverb in a large vaulted room with wooded pews - not for all the sound recording software in the world! Our recent session at Kent Trinity Lutheran was great. As we wrapped up for the night, their Organist joked that we 'owed her big time!' So, in part, in exchange for having the sanctuary available to us, we put together a small little program for a spring Sunday afternoon concert for the community. Hope you can join us!

Silent Movie Night! Laurel & Hardy starring in Habeas Corpus

Step back in time as this hilarious silent movie is accompanied by organist Brian Ebie at the organ console of the Suffield United Church of Christ 1115 Ohio 43, Mogadore, OH 44260.

Brian will improvise a movie soundtrack as the film is projected, just like being at a movie theatre in the 1920's! Habeas Corpus is a short silent comedy film where Laurel and Hardy are hired by a mad scientist to rob a grave.  Hilarity ensues, as only Laurel and Hardy can do it, as they sneak into a scary graveyard at night and try to start digging up the dead fellow to bring back to the mad scientist.
